In hour two, we'll turn our album spotlight on two Australian LP's unavailable on CD - in MONO of course - both with strong early Bee Gees connections.
First up, "Ronnie" by Ronnie Burns features a number of early Gibb covers, as well as Ronnie's takes on hits by The Hollies, Mamas & Papas and others. A fine LP with plenty of groovy guitar licks and backing vocals from Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb.
Album two is one of my faves by Johnny Young: "Surprises." Orchestrated by Bill Shepherd and recorded in the UK during the same period as Bee Gees' 1st, "Surprises" features some strong originals, as well as a cache of Gibb covers featuring the brothers on background harmonies.
