A lifetime of collecting unusual records began the day Bubbling Over host Jim Laspesa discovered his first LP cutout bin at a Kresge's department store in the early 1970s. These days, Jim is a Los Angeles-based musician who has recorded, toured and written with such artists as The Kinks' Dave Davies, Green Jello, The Muffs, Baby Lemonade, White Flag and Marizane. He also appeared in the made-for-TV movie The Beach Boys: An American Family. Bubbling Over offers samples from his plethora of goodies every week.
 

• Philosophy of my Radio Show: Bubbling Over offers treasures from my personal collection, including but not limited to: Merseybeat, inept soundalike cover versions, surf/hot rod, caucasoid vocal group disasters, flower power/hippie exploitation, bubblegum, vintage radio spots, uncategorizable thrift store acquisitions, Los Angeles-area musicians/songwriters I admire, freakbeat/psych pop, all things Brian Wilson/Beach Boys related, instro/instrumentals, girl group, open-ended interview record snippets, 60s/70s soft pop and much more.

To derive maximum pleasure from my radio show: Aggressively gnash on many jagged pieces of overly-sweetened Lime Kool-Aid Ice in quick succession until your teeth and gums are throbbing; hug loved one, set computer speakers to stun, laugh, cry. Repeat as needed.
