Who remembers the halcyon days of Luxuria?

Submitted by jazmaan on Thu, 01/21/2010 - 17:25.
Who remembers those glorious hazy crazy days back when Luxuria was a real physical world radio station with real DJ's? Who remembers those wild and boozy years when Bill Clinton was the President and Luxuria was rolling in internet boom cash? Who remembers the sultry siren seductive voice of Marianne Ferrari? The way-out wacky shows of Byron Werner? The guilty decadence of the Millionaire? If you remember like I do, please post your anecdotes here.

Long Long ago

I'm stationed in Yellowknife NWT as a flight officer. I remember the Powerful Feelings with Val Myers show and Marianne reading us poetry in the mornings. They brightened up what is often a dark and boring (not to mention)goddamned cold posting. Play Kinky Boots one more time Val! Where's Disco Trash? Howard_Roark

We're as physical as we were back in 2000!
I remember Kaci Kristian, Veronica Vinyl,  Fugly The Clown, Prickle, Tea and Sea,  Jim Dunfrund, Lolita, .. and behind the scenes Mr. Marty Dolginoff and Mr. Guy Benoit.

I remember like it was just ten years ago. The Mag 7 list; 'Matto, Caldo, Soldi, Morto, Girotondo'; The Mil and Chuck interviewing Vic Mizzy who complained that all music these days is sung by boys who seem angry at their mothers; Eric hosting a Christmas show with his dad, .... Happy Anniversary on Sunday, Chuck.

Azalea on Sunday Night

Submitted by HughJorgen on Mon, 02/15/2010 - 16:54.
Well, back then, I was pan,...:P My first time, was with Azalea, it was a Sunday night..like tonight(spooky). I asked her to moon the cam, she drew a 'lil picture of a moon and held it up to the camera, putting me quickly, in my rightful place. Val Myers in the afternoon, now what could be better? Maybe a Val Myers action figure? Kaci Christian had Dudley Moore's lady on, Susan Anton. Man, that show kept me tumescent for weeks. You get the idea, Luxuria has always been and will always be about the women. Tee & Sea, Marianne... sweet. Oh yeah, the music ain't too shabby either. Thanks Chuck & Mill you two are the godfathers. Happy birthday Luxotron 5000(no salty palaver from me, no sir). "Grey", the evil presence(ever lurking behind the scenes), deserves a thanks too. My Jobim/ Sinatra download could only have been done with your help. It prolly is my favourite rekkid. If I left anyone else out, apologies, Luxuria is really one of lifes treasures.

Time goes by fast wen you're having fun, doesn't it?

Submitted by ArtFart on Mon, 02/15/2010 - 02:16.
I first discovered Luxuria only a month or two after the launch. I'd recently started a new job where I'd inherited a private office previously used by someone doing multimedia stuff...and he'd left behind a terrific Altec speaker setup. "Net radio" wasn't entirely new, nor I to it--one day while working on something essential but boring I looked through the "station list" included in Realplayer at the time and found the listing for Luxuria. I watched the home page open with those interminable "horizontal curlique" animated GIFs and the proclamation that I'd found my "online oasis of splendor". I was to say the least, intrigued. Then I clicked "Listen" and heard Peggy Lee back-to-back with Astroslut. After a while I found the studio cam page and discovered the voice saying all those funny things between tracks belonged to a pretty lady named Val Myers. From then on, I was hooked. In the time since, I've learned more about music than I ever knew before, and made "some of the best friends I've never met"--and a few that I have. All the listening and chatting and booty-shaking and laughing and crying we've done together in cyber-land has been a remarkable experience, and here's hoping the festivities will go on for a long, long time. Oh, yeah...the first time the "Ballroom Organ" track from Disney's "Haunted Mansion" came on, I couldn't resist cranking the volume a bit, and it attracted a bit of attention. With that fancy speaker set-up, the bass notes made people down the hall think we were having an earthquake. Misery may love company, but company doesn't love misery.
